Apple Maps Business Listings

As the default mapping application on all iPhones the Apple Maps App market-share will continue to grow as long as iPhone users continue to grow, which is why Location3 believes Apple Maps to be an important piece of any local listing data management program moving forward. Andrew Shotland recently mentioned Location3 Media in his article on, titled, “Apple Maps Announces New Business Listings Data Partners”. Subsequently Greg Sterling also picked up on this content with a post called, “Apple Maps Using New Partners For Multiple-Location Map Submissions”.

Since the release of the Search Engine Land article where Mr. Sterling referred to Location3 as a “select partner designated for multi-location management” on Apple Maps, we have received a bevy of inquiries on the topic. In an effort to better address all of the inquiries all at once we are happy to be able to refer to Apple as a user and distributor of our Licensor Data in the context of our local listings management services.

Apple Maps has gained market share over the past two years since its initial dreadful release, subsequent recall and subsequent successful re-release. As referenced by Comscore in its April 2014 Top 15 Smartphone Apps report, Apple Maps App reaches 24.5% of app users compared to Google Maps App reaching 41.5% of app users:
