Happy Cyber Monday to You! 

Here’s hoping Black Friday and Small Business Saturday turned out the predicted foot traffic! Will this year’s Cyber Monday sales top out last year’s record $10.8 billion? EMarketer is predicting a rise to $12.12 billion, continuing the trend of YoY growth since 2010. They’re also predicting ecommerce sales to surpass $5 billion on each of the “Cyber Five” shopping days, Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. Find more holiday e-commerce forecasting for the season from eMarketer here. Yelp’s New Ad Types Appeal to Franchise, Multi-Unit Brands

This month, Yelp introduced two new ad types that will appear on the iOS app homepage: Sponsored Collections and Seasonal Spotlight Ads. Sponsored Collections enable brands to promote local businesses that may sell or serve their products. And Seasonal Spotlight Ads are designed for multi-location brands to highlight seasonal deals, promotions and new products. Find out more about the release here. 

Google’s November Core Algorithm Update 

Initial data is showing the volatility of Google’s November update peaked early and quickly slowed. And most reports show signs that this update was more substantial than that of July. While Google hasn’t confirmed this update is finished rolling out, Search Engine Land is compiling early data from several companies that track Google’s search results. Core updates are broad, and if your site is negatively affected, it can be challenging know what you need to do. Start with Search Engine Land’s article on the update, and find Google’s advice here. 

The “New” Google Business Profile 

Google My Business is now streamlined under a new moniker: Google Business Profile. In terms of management, the updates primarily apply to single location business owners. It’s important to note, however, that businesses with multiple profiles will now access Business Profile Manager, rather than Google My Business. Location3 clients with listings management in LOCALACT should see no change. Find out more about the update here.
