Industry Roundup – August 2022
The month of August offered some big news on one of Google’s first major algorithm updates in organic search in a long time, and some significant changes in the ongoing shift to OTT/CTV and away from linear television. We also spent a good amount of time traveling to visit clients and partners, and got together with our full team in-person for the first time since March 2o20. Here are some highlights from the past month!
Google’s Content Update
Google rolled out another huge update earlier this month. The goal of this update is to help make the results of Google Searches more relevant. The goal is to encourage creators to create helpful content for your target audience, versus posting a lot of unhelpful information. You can read more about this update and how it can affect your site here.

Streaming Surpasses Cable For The First Time
In July, Streaming channels surpassed Cable and Broadcast channels. Audiences watched an average of 190.9 billion minutes of streamed content per week. That’s 30 billion minutes more than the previous record! As consumers turn to more steaming channels, it makes for a great channel to get your brand in front of a large audience. Culture In Focus: Together Again (at last)
Last week was a significant one at Location3. For the first time since March 2020, we had virtually every member of our growing team in-person at our headquarters in Denver for a week of team building, quarterly planning meetings, and good old fashioned fun. As we’ve navigated the past few years in transitioning to a hybrid company with the ability to provide both in-person and remote working options for our team, we’ve learned a lot along the way. Our business has evolved. Our team has evolved. And our culture has evolved. Don’t miss the full post (and all the awesome photos) by Josh Allen here.
